Your Physiotherapist, Adriana L. Ramirez, received her degree as a Physical Therapist from Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 1997. Upon graduation, she worked with outpatients for the National Police until the year 2000. While working, she was also pursuing a specialization in University Teaching at universidad Santo Tomás de Aquino from which she graduated in 2000.

She then traveled to Europe for a year to perfect her command of the English language and to satisfy her dream of exploring and learning about other cultures. In 2001 she returned to Colombia and resumed her work activites treating inpatients and outpatients at the Hospital Militar Central until 2005. This experience in Orthopedics, Neurology and war trauma were the basis from which her passion for Orthopedic Physiotherapy was born.

In 2006 Adriana traveled to the U.S. and followed the process to obtain her professional license as a Physiotherapist in the state of California. In 2007, while the convalidation process of her credentials was taking place, she stepped into her professional field as a Physiotherapy assistant for a private clinic specialized in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine called BEST Physical Therapy.

In 2009, Adriana obtained her Physiotherapy license in California and began her work as a Physiotherapist in a private clinic specialized in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine called OPTM Physical Therapy for which she worked until the end of 2019. It was during her stay in the U.S. that her passion for Orthopedic Physiotherapy was consolidated and a great interest in Sports Medicine arose.

While in the U.S. Adriana completed in 2010 a yearlong course in the Australian Maitland Method of manual therapy. In 2016 and 2017 she completed two courses in Myofascial Decompression Therapy (MFD) at the University of San Francisco in California (UCSF). From 2015 Hamstring 2019 she completed her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at Five Branches University, with a line of specialization in Comprehensive Sports Medicine with a total of 2444 hours of training.

In 2020, Adriana returned to Colombia willing to offer her community the legacy of knowledge and personal and professional experience acquired in more than 20 years. This legacy takes the best of Western and Eastern medicine to integrate it into a holistic Physiotherapy service that heals and transforms.

In 2020, Adriana created Fysiopuntura during the global outbreak of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Social distancing and the reduction of infections are a real need that call for urgent adaptation of Physiotherapy services. Fysiopuntura responds to this need to expand the profession by offering Physiotherapy online or TeleRehabilitation and at Home Physiotherapy.
